USC ENTERTAINMENT TECHNOLOGY SUMMIT 2004Submitted by MapTheWay on October 12, 2004 - 7:46am.
ENTERTAINMENT TECHNOLOGY SUMMIT 2004?A Conference & Report on Technology Developments Affecting The Global Entertainment Industry. I attended dinner tonight;?(oh, was there a panel discussion?)?the food?was really quite good, actually exceptional. I mostly ate fresh sushi and had a great glass of Merlot (open bar).? The crowd seemed to be?mostly older died in the wool corporate types late 30-60's. I talked shop with a dude from Verizon, another from Sharp who's going to get me LCDs at cost, and a young USC Sophmore Aaron running http://www.socalendar.com/?a .Net effort focused on the college crowd. The panel discussion seemed to focus upon?the City of Fontana's desire to?run fiber to each home. b.o.r.i.n.g.?give me another glass of merlot please. Not much of an entrepreneurial spirit. Tomorrow should be much better. Two guys I've met with over the past three weeks will be speaking: Robert Dowling, Editor in Chief of the Hollywood Reporter, and Cedric Van Rossum of Atzio.? If the food is half as good as it was tonight I think my time there will be?worth the?effort and parking. If I learn something great. But I'm not holding my breath. Reporting from USC... UPDATE: WEDNESDAY the Summit was AMAZING!! GREAT panels and amazingly well done moderation, especially from Robert Dowling! Date: October 12-13, 2004 This event emphasizes the most compelling technology breakthroughs and order-of-magnitude improvements envisioned 2-7 years out. We will minimize our coverage of business models, markets, and consumers, not because they are not important, but because we want to pull you ?outside the box MapTheWay's blog | login to post comments
